Charlie cooper

During his sell-out talk at last year’s festival, actor, writer and now Festival Ambassador Charlie Cooper confessed his secret love of metal detecting and put out an appeal for a local field or two to explore. Naturally, Cirencester delivered! This year Charlie returns to show us the best of his 2024/5 discoveries, from a fine Roman fibula brooch to medieval hammered coins and plenty of buttons, all found within a few miles of town. In a rare detectorist / archaeologist collaboration, Charlie is joined by renowned prehistory and Roman expert Miles Russell. Come and see them ‘bury the hand axe’ for a Time Team meets Antiques Roadshow Cirencester special.

Charlie’s finds will be on display in the Corinium Museum after the event.
